KIMBERLY'S TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
"Cultivating a love for music through passion, patience, and practice."
Unfortunately, I'm all booked up with students for the time being. If you are interested in lessons, please email me and I will put you on a waiting list/contact you if my schedule opens up. Thanks so much!
I love to teach all ages, ranging from five to sixty years old and beyond! I provide violin and basic piano lessons. Lessons are taught at my home studio or online, using multiple resources such as Suzuki Violin Method, Essential Elements, etc. In addition to classical repertoire and technique, students are encouraged to choose and learn songs of different genres that they recognize and enjoy listening to.
STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
"My 10 year old son has been taking violin lessons with Kimberly for over two years. We absolutely love her! She is so good with him and she is constantly adapting her lessons to fit his needs. I am constantly blown away by how much his skill level expands with each lesson. Kimberly is always looking for new methods of teaching and songs to keep them interested. Not only does he love learning from Kimberly, but she has also helped him to really love music and the violin!"
~Kari, mother of Jai (violin), Kauai
"Ms. Kimberly is well educated in her field of music and especially in teaching piano lessons to my two sons Po’okela (12) and Ka’eo (11) Punzal. Her well rounded approach to teaching piano consists of her welcoming and patient energy which creates a positive atmosphere to learn music theory, body posture, proper finger movement and positioning and also incorporating singing with playing. It has been a great privilege and musical opportunity these past two years for Po’okela and Ka’eo. Their interest in music overall has increased and their rhythm in life has grown in their Jiu Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do Martial Arts Training. Mahalo Nui Loa Ms. Kimberly for all that you do. Po’okela and Ka’eo are truly Blessed to have you in their educational journey."
~Jacob, father of Po'okela and Ka'eo (piano) , Kauai
“Kimberly has been a perfect fit for me as an adult beginning violin lessons. She is knowledgeable and always encouraging. She is very good at giving specific tips to help me improve. Our hour long lessons, both in person and now on-line, fly by. Her love of music is contagious.”
~Kathy (violin), Kauai
“Kim is a very patient teacher. She is able to adjust her instruction to each student’s individual level and always encourages her students to do their best. Kim is an exceptional violinist and musician, and we are so fortunate to have her as our teacher."
~Eva (ukulele), Emi (violin), and their mom Angela from Kauai
"Miss Kimberly is a great teacher and she has taught me a lot in fun ways. I especially like how she not only focuses on techniques but also on what is fun to play. I had to pick up a lot of things after half a year of not playing my violin, and she really helped me find the fun in playing violin again." ~Estrid (violin), 12, Kauai
"Kim is a very positive and encouraging violin teacher who makes her lessons fun & interesting for my son. Evan enjoys his in-person and online lessons. Kim tailors his lesson based on his interest to keep him engaged and motivated, as a result he learned to play a Harry Potter themed song. She is flexible with scheduling lessons, communicates well, and her lessons are affordable. We first saw one of her performances at an art night and were so impressed by her talent and skills. My son looks forward to his weekly violin lessons and I try to log in to her livestream Instagram performances so he can hear her play."
~Charlene, mother of Evan (violin), Kauai
"Miss Kimberly works with her students as individuals, catering to the pace of their skill acquisition. She also considers personal music interest and preferences to increase student motivation. We feel so fortunate that our children are growing in their love for music under her guidance."
~Leigh, mother of Ella (violin) and Miles (piano), Kauai
"I am so glad that my dad found Kimberly as my virtual violin teacher after he was searching on the Internet for "Dust in the Wind." Since working with Kimberly, my playing has gone from a plateau to an upward diagonal line. More importantly, I now love playing the violin and look forward to my very short one hour lesson every week."
~Courtney (violin), 8, Lexington, Massachusetts
"I have seen my 8-year old's playing skills and appreciation of the violin skyrocket with her virtual lessons with Kimberly. It is hard to get Courtney to stop playing her violin nowadays." ~ Jennifer, Lexington, Massachusetts
"I'm an adult student living in Colorado. I've been playing the violin and viola for over 30 years. After coasting in my proficiency for well over a decade, I decided to practice more and progress my playing. Since starting online lessons with Kimberly I've seen a significant improvement in my tone, shifting, intonation, bowing, vibrato, dynamics, ear training, interpretation, and practice techniques. Each lesson, she provides me with clear recommendations on how to reach my goals. In the past six months I've been able to learn and perform a number of challenging pieces including Orange Blossom Special, Now We Are Free (Taylor Davis), and Angels We Have Heard on High (Lindsey Stirling). Kimberly is an exceptional violin teacher and performer."
~Phil (violin), Colorado
